Manual and Automated Traffic Interface
The purpose of NConvert is to convert information from a third party scheduling system (Normally a traffic system) and convert it into a format that an NVerzion application can use. An example would be that a traffic system has a schedule that needs to be implemented. NControl Gold converts this from their format into an NControl Gold schedule. In many cases, NControl Gold can convert the 'As Run' information in a fromat that the traffic system can then use for reconciliation.
Just about every traffic system has some custom functionality associated with it. Even the new BXF format, which was supposed to be a standard, has been interpreted, and implemented, differently by both the production level and at the user level. Each installation runs differently and each one requires either custom code or custom configuration
NConvert can be accessed manually or automatically. The graphic above is the NConvert GUI which you can use to enter in the required parameters and implement the desired task. Each traffic system, as well a each installation, varies and you will need to enter the extensions and file path information. This information is saved for you and restored if you shut down and restart your NConvert. Automatic convert times, and automatic reconciliation can be enabled to happen at a specific time of day.
NConvert can also be implemented from NControl Gold. After configuring NControl Gold with the correct traffic parameters, you can either click the Convert Button or choose the convert menu option. A File Dialog window will give you the option to choose the traffic log you want to convert. After selecting the desired file, NControl Gold will pass this off to NConvert. NConvert will do the conversion and a message window in NControl Gold will notify you of the success, or lack thereof.
Some traffic systems have an As Run Reconciliation feature. NControl Gold has optional buttons and menu items that enable the As Run conversion. Choosing this option will again initiate a window asking you which schedule you want to convert. This will again be passed to NConvert who will notify you of success.
