WKNO Elevates Broadcast Efficiency with NVerzion's Automated Playout
and Centralized Storage Solutions
Salt Lake City, UT - September 2024 – WKNO of Cordova, Tennessee, recently purchased NVerzion’s NFinity Playout Video Servers and TeraStore Centralized Storage, along with an upgrade
to their existing NVerzion automation system. The facility transitioned from a previous vendor’s playout server due to persistent playout issues. After migrating to NVerzion’s playout servers, WKNO has experienced seamless performance and is impressed with NVerzion’s proactive support.
The NVerzion team worked closely with WKNO to ensure smooth playback of the station's diverse media types, reinforcing the reliability of the new system. For WKNO, the NVerzion Video Servers have been a
robust work horse, accurately controlled through playlists and accessing file content without issues.
One of the most positive aspects for WKNO is that with the NFinity Video Servers, they now have an 8-
channel configuration providing them with full redundancy for their 3 broadcast channels. The Primary NFinity Video Server contains an HD primary player, two SD primaries, and a recorder. The second NFinity
Video Server contains a backup for each of the facility’s three air channels and a second recorder. The playout channels cue and run concurrently, allowing failover instantly without loss of programming.
Additionally, the NFinityView software, which goes along with the NFinity Players for QC, does not take up one of the eight ports. In this way the station is able to monitor all of this, perform quality control, set ins and outs, and manage files without taking up a valuable player port. What matters most to WKNO is the support they've received. Navigating the recent transition, coordinating multiple vendors, and managing diverse equipment has been challenging.
NVerzion's team has stepped in to ensure that all components work seamlessly together, even when
software adjustments were needed for vendor integration. WKNO has been assured with having NVerzion’s support in the face of unexpected issues. The facility has successfully moved through all updates so that the system addresses the new Video Servers correctly.

“It’s been great how responsive they've been with helping us move through the set-up process and
work beyond any issues,” said Kevin Elliott, WKNO’s Director of Technology. “NVerzion plays amazingly with the other vendors. I've yet to find anything that they haven't controlled, such as the management of our Utah Scientific Router and Evertz keyers. All play out is tightly controlled and we’ve not had a single non-addressed issue with getting our system set-up and worked through.” Managing a range of complex components under one system is essential, especially when automation and playout form the core of such a critical operation. “Everything must function without interruption, tailored precisely to the station’s needs,” said Reed Haslam, NVerzion’s Director of Sales. “Our ongoing priority has been to address WKNO’s current and future station requirements, ensuring the system works efficiently for everyone involved while continuing to meet their high standards. Not to mention, it’s reassuring that an existing customer from 10-years ago
continues to retain the level of confidence from our company”.
