Smoky Hills PBS (KOOD) Ignites their Broadcast Capabilities with NVerzion’s NFinity Video Servers

Salt Lake City, UT – March 2025– Smoky Hills PBS (KOOD) has successfully upgraded its broadcast infrastructure with NVerzion’s NFinity video servers, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and streamlining workflow. The station has implemented two NFinity video servers with redundancy, each featuring four-channel capabilities—three for broadcasting and one for recording. These video servers now serve as the primary playout system for KOOD, ensuring reliable and high-quality content delivery.

This upgrade follows KOOD’s earlier transition to NVerzion’s automation suite, which includes NControl and NGest for scheduled playout and content acquisition with streamlined
operations. The integration of the NFinity video servers has introduced significant improvements in usability, flexibility, and graphics management. The video servers' intuitive design simplifies operations, particularly in trimming and segmenting content using the NFinityView software. This software provides a selfcontained video streaming solution over a closed network,
eliminating the need for additional SDI cables, extra video server players, or monitors.

The new system also enhances on-air graphics capabilities, incorporating internal animated graphics, and crawls. KOOD had relied on a separate "micro X" system tied into the air chain. Now, all graphic elements are managed within the NFinity Video Server system, significantly improving workflow efficiency. The original Automation machine controllers required RS422 serial connections to control the legacy video server system, now the system has evolved to a more simplistic platform using all IP control.

“The simplicity and power of the NFinity video servers have been a game-changer for us,” said
Thomas Standley, KOOD’s Chief Operator. “The ease of implementation allowed us to start using the system almost immediately. The support from NVerzion’s team has been outstanding—always available and responsive, no matter the time of day.”

KOOD’s transition to the NFinity video server system was remarkably smooth, requiring minimal
effort to integrate with the existing NVerzion automation system. The station completed the
installation and networking of the video servers within a single day, with immediate operational
readiness. The system also incorporates Sage/EAS capabilities, further enhancing KOOD’s emergency alert messaging. The integration of graphics and automation with Sage-EAS via an IP-based configuration has provided an unprecedented level of efficiency.

“NVerzion’s commitment to customer service and innovation is unparalleled,” added Standley. “They developed a Sage-EAS interface specifically for our needs in record time, ensuring a seamless transition without any disruption.” Looking ahead, KOOD anticipates continued collaboration with NVerzion to further enhance its broadcast capabilities.

“We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with KOOD and support their growing needs,” said Reed Haslam, Sales Manager at NVerzion. “Their successful transition to NFinity demonstrates the adaptability of our solutions, and we look forward to exploring additional opportunities for expansion and innovation together.”
